FridayNightPulse Training Tip: LB Speed and Agility Drill for Non-Public A Programs

๐Ÿ“ Don Bosco Prep IronmenยทTuesday, July 21, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

At Non-Public A programs like Don Bosco Prep Ironmen, linebackers need to be agile and quick to make plays on the field. To improve their speed and agility, we recommend the following drill: "Ladder Weave and Shuttle". Set up a ladder on the field and have the linebacker weave through the rungs with their feet. Start with 3 sets of 10 reps, focusing on quick footwork and changing direction. Next, set up two cones 5 yards apart and have the linebacker perform a shuttle run between them. Start with 3 sets of 10 reps, focusing on explosive acceleration and deceleration. This drill translates to game performance by improving the linebacker's ability to quickly change direction and accelerate to the ball carrier. It also helps to improve their reaction time and overall agility on the field.
