Pirate Passing Precision: A Drill for Seton Hall Prep's S Players
As the Seton Hall Prep Pirates prepare for the Non-Public A season, S players can improve their passing accuracy and game-read skills with this targeted drill. Set up a 5-yard passing station with a quarterback and a receiver. The receiver will start at a 45-degree angle, 3 yards from the quarterback. The quarterback will drop back 5 yards and throw a 10-yard out route. The receiver must catch the ball at the 5-yard line, with their feet in bounds. Run 3 sets of 10 reps, with a 30-second rest between each set. Coaching cues: 'Catch it with your eyes,' 'Square your body to the ball,' and 'Keep your feet moving.' This drill translates to game performance by teaching S players to read the quarterback's eyes and adjust their route accordingly. It also improves their ability to catch the ball in traffic and make plays in the open field.
