Centennial Hawks Coach Signs Contract Extension Through 2029

Centennial High School in Las Cruces announced Thursday that head football coach, Mark Lopez, has signed a contract extension through the 2029 season. Lopez led the 6A Hawks to back-to-back playoff appearances, including a 2024 first-round victory. The program has seen a resurgence under Lopez's leadership, with a 2024 regular-season record of 8-2. The extension is seen as a vote of confidence in Lopez's ability to continue recruiting top talent in the Las Cruces area and compete with other top 6A programs in the NMAA. The move is expected to provide stability for the program heading into the 2026 season, with Lopez's team set to begin summer camp in late July.
