Tiger Tough: Los Lunas OL Drill for a Dominant Line

๐Ÿ“ Los Lunas TigersยทTuesday, July 7, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

To prepare Los Lunas Tigers 5A OL for the upcoming season, strength and conditioning coach, Alex Johnson, has developed a drill to improve footwork and hand placement. The 'Tiger Trap' drill involves a series of 3 sets of 10 reps: 1) Players start in a 3-point stance, then quickly shift to a 2-point stance, focusing on keeping their back straight and chest up. 2) Next, they drive their feet into the ground, exploding upward, and quickly re-establish their 3-point stance. 3) Finally, they perform a speed bag drill, punching the air with their fists while maintaining a tight grip on an imaginary opponent's jersey. This drill translates to game performance by improving OL reaction time, agility, and ability to quickly secure and re-secure blocks.
