Unlocking Tight End Potential: The Centennial Hawks' 6A Training Drill

๐Ÿ“ Centennial HawksยทThursday, July 16, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

At the top 6A programs like Centennial Hawks, tight ends are expected to excel in both blocking and receiving. To prepare for the upcoming season, we're sharing a key drill to enhance their skills. The 'Route Runner Blocker' drill focuses on the tight end's ability to quickly transition from a route runner to a blocker. Set up three stations: a 5-yard route running area, a 3-yard blocking pad, and a 10-yard agility ladder course. Perform 3 sets of 3 reps: 1) run a 5-yard out route, 2) immediately transition to a block on the pad, and 3) weave through the agility ladder course to simulate a game scenario. Coaching cues include 'quick feet' and 'change of direction.' This drill translates to game performance by improving the tight end's ability to adapt to different situations and make plays in space.
