Finishing Block Drill for 6A OLs: Building Strength and Technique

๐Ÿ“ Cleveland StormยทSunday, July 19, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

The Cleveland Storm's 6A OLs can take their game to the next level with the Finishing Block Drill. This intense workout targets the core, legs, and upper body, translating to improved blocking and tackling in game situations. To perform the drill: Set up 3-4 blocks, spaced 5 yards apart. OLs will start at the line of scrimmage and sprint 10 yards to the first block, then immediately change direction and hit the block with a finishing technique (hands up, chest to pad). Complete 3 sets of 10 reps, resting 30 seconds between sets. Coaching cues: 'Finish the block,' 'Keep your feet moving,' and 'Protect the quarterback.' This drill simulates the quick changes of direction and powerful blocking OLs encounter in games, making it an essential addition to pre-season training.
