Kicking into Shape: La Cueva Bears' Summer Prep for 6A Kicking Game

๐Ÿ“ La Cueva BearsยทMonday, July 20, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

At La Cueva Bears' summer camp, kicking coach emphasizes the importance of building leg strength and accuracy. To achieve this, they incorporate the '3-Step Ladder Drill.' Players start at the 3-step ladder, then jump out to the 5-step ladder, and finally to the 10-step ladder. For each ladder, they complete 3 sets of 10 reps, focusing on explosive power and controlled landing. Coaching cues include 'drive through' for the initial jump and 'catch and absorb' for landing. This drill translates to game performance by increasing kicking distance and accuracy. It also enhances flexibility and reduces the risk of injury. With consistent practice, La Cueva Bears' kickers will be ready to take on the competition in the 6A classification.
