La Cueva's Austin Harris Commits to SMU
Austin Harris, a Class of 2027 cornerback from La Cueva High School, has committed to play football at Southern Methodist University. Harris, a 6-foot athlete, chose SMU over other Division I offers due to the Mustangs' athletic fit and academic program. The La Cueva Bears' defensive backfield is expected to feature a mix of man-to-man and zone coverage, aligning with SMU's defensive scheme. Harris also cited the opportunity to contribute immediately as a freshman, given the Mustangs' current depth chart. Harris had previously committed to the University of New Mexico but decommitted in May to pursue other options. Harris is a 4.4-second 40-yard dash runner and a 3.8 GPA student. He will join the SMU program this fall, where he will compete for a starting role.
