Explosive Power for 6A RBs: La Cueva Bears' Summer Drill

๐Ÿ“ La Cueva BearsยทSunday, July 26, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

This summer, La Cueva Bears' running backs can expect to see a significant emphasis on explosive power through a drill that targets acceleration and speed. The 'Ladder Blast' drill involves setting up a ladder on the field, with each rung spaced 3 feet apart. The RB starts at the bottom, then explosively jumps up to the next rung, landing softly on the balls of their feet. They repeat this process, moving up the ladder in sets of 3 reps, with 30 seconds rest between sets. Coaches should cue players to 'blast off' the ground, keeping their knees bent and weight forward. This drill translates to game performance by improving RBs' ability to quickly accelerate and change direction, making them more effective in breaking tackles and creating big plays. Aim for 3-4 sets, with a total of 12-15 reps per player.
