The University Interscholastic League's (UIL) expansion of its flag football pilot program creates new scholarship pathways for top female athletes. The NCAA's Emerging Sports for Women program, which added women's flag football in January 2026, has already seen the University of Nebraska establish a fully funded Division 1 varsity program. NAIA programs such as Ottawa University (Kansas), Keiser University (Florida) and Midland University (Nebraska) also offer active scholarships. UT Arlington, a Texas-based Division 1 program in development, is another option for top performers. The Reno Huskies, a top 5A team in Nevada, are among the programs poised to benefit from these expanded opportunities. To access these scholarships, athletes must excel in the UIL pilot program and meet the eligibility requirements set by each institution.
