FridayNightPulse Training Tip: Bishop Gorman Gaels Linebacker Drill
This summer, Bishop Gorman Gaels linebackers will be putting in work with a drill designed to improve their speed, agility, and tackling technique. The 'L-Drill' involves setting up four cones in a square formation, with the player starting at one corner. They must then weave through the cones, performing a lateral shuffle, before exploding into a 3-step drop, planting their outside foot, and bursting into a 5-yard dash to the next cone. Coaches cue the players to 'stay low, stay fast, and finish strong.' This drill translates to game performance by simulating the quick changes of direction and rapid acceleration required to stay with running backs and tight ends. Aim for 3 sets of 5 reps, with a 2-minute rest between sets. This drill will have Gaels linebackers ready to take on the 5A competition this fall.
