Unlocking Dominance: Liberty Patriots DEs' Edge Rush Drill

๐Ÿ“ Liberty PatriotsยทTuesday, July 28, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

As the Liberty Patriots prepare for another dominant season, defensive end players must hone their edge rush skills. Coach Thompson's team has been running a crucial drill to improve speed, agility, and technique. The drill consists of 3 sets of 10 reps: 1) a 10-yard sprint to the quarterback, 2) a 5-yard change of direction to the outside, and 3) a 5-yard acceleration to the quarterback. Coaching cues emphasize explosive acceleration, keeping the inside shoulder down, and extending the arms. This drill translates to game performance by improving DEs' ability to quickly close the gap and pressure the quarterback. It also enhances their agility and reaction time, allowing them to adapt to various blocking schemes.
