Finishing Drills for Tight Ends at AA Programs

๐Ÿ“ Aquinas Institute Little IrishยทMonday, July 6, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

This summer, Tight End coaches at AA programs like Aquinas Institute Little Irish can focus on developing their players' ability to finish plays with the ball in their hands. The 'Finish and Secure' drill involves setting up three cones in a triangle formation, with the TE starting at the point. The coach throws a pass to the TE, who must secure the catch and then finish the play by taking it to the ground, all while maintaining possession. Coaches should emphasize 'high and tight' body positioning and 'wrap and secure' hands. Perform 3 sets of 5 reps, with a 30-second rest between sets. This drill translates to game performance by teaching TEs to finish plays in traffic and maintain possession under pressure.
