Devon Smith: Crusading Back to the Top
Long Island Lutheran Crusaders running back Devon Smith has been a force to be reckoned with on the field, and it's not just because of his impressive 4.3 40-yard dash time. This summer, Smith is looking to build on his breakout season, which saw him rush for 1,200 yards and 15 touchdowns as a sophomore. But what's even more impressive is the road he's taken to get here. Smith suffered a season-ending ACL injury in the spring of his freshman year, a setback that could have derailed his promising career. Instead, he used the time off to work on his strength and conditioning, and it paid off when he earned a starting role as a sophomore. Now, as a junior, Smith is looking to take his game to the next level and lead the Crusaders to a championship. Scouts are watching to see how Smith's speed and agility hold up against top-level competition, and whether he can continue to produce big numbers in the AA division, where he'll face off against the best of New York's small schools.
