TE Prospects: What Coaches Look for on Junior Day Visits
Junior day visits offer top college programs a chance to evaluate top prospects in a more intimate setting. For tight end prospects at AA programs like Aquinas Institute Little Irish, understanding what coaches are looking for can make a significant difference. During a junior day visit, coaches will be evaluating a prospect's on-field skills, but also their off-field intangibles. They will be looking for a prospect who can learn and adapt quickly, demonstrate strong work ethic, and show a high level of football IQ. For example, a tight end who can consistently block a defender in space, allowing a quarterback to complete a 3rd-and-long conversion, will catch a coach's eye. Additionally, a prospect who can demonstrate an understanding of their role in the offense and how they can contribute to the team's success will be viewed as a more attractive recruit.
