As the Springfield Wildcats prepare for the upcoming flag football season, Division II prospects are looking ahead to the University of Nebraska's inaugural 2028 campaign. The Cornhuskers, led by coaches Liz and Katie Sowers, will join the Power 4 as the first Big Ten program to offer flag football scholarships. For Springfield's top athletes, this means new opportunities for development and recruitment. Ottawa University, Kansas, and Keiser University, Florida, also offer verified scholarship programs, with Ottawa providing up to 12 scholarships. Midland University, Nebraska, is an active recruiter, and UT Arlington is developing its program. Wildcats' flag football players can take concrete steps by creating highlight tapes and researching these programs to increase their chances of securing a scholarship. With Nebraska's entry into the Power 4, the landscape for flag football recruitment has shifted, and Springfield's top prospects are poised to capitalize on this change.
