Wildcat Cornerbacks: Master the 'Shadow' Drill for Pre-Season Dominance
At Springfield Wildcats training camp, cornerbacks will be putting in extra work on the 'Shadow' drill. This high-intensity exercise is designed to improve reaction time, footwork, and ball skills. The drill consists of 3 sets of 10 reps: 1) Start in a backpedal position, 2) React to a coach's whistle by quickly closing the gap to the ball carrier (a teammate or coach), 3) Mirror the ball carrier's movements, staying in their shadow. Coaching cues include 'Stay glued to the receiver' and 'Keep your eyes on the ball.' This drill translates to game performance by allowing cornerbacks to develop the quick reflexes and agility needed to stay with receivers down the field. By mastering the 'Shadow' drill, Wildcats cornerbacks will be well-prepared for the upcoming season.
