Elevate Your Endurance: St. Edward's Speed Training Drill

๐Ÿ“ St. Edward EaglesยทThursday, July 16, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

At top-tier programs like St. Edward Eagles, speed is a key component of success. To improve their endurance and acceleration, St. Edward's coaching staff employs a drill that targets the player's ability to explosively change direction. The 'Ladder Shuffle' drill involves 3 sets of 10 reps, with 30 seconds rest between sets. Players start at one end of a ladder, shuffling their feet through the rungs while maintaining a high level of intensity. As they progress, coaches provide cues to 'quick feet' and 'stay low.' This drill translates to game performance by allowing players to rapidly change direction on the field, making them more effective in coverage and pursuit. By incorporating the Ladder Shuffle into their training regimen, S players can develop the speed and agility needed to excel at the Division I level.
