Rams QBs Ready: 'Read and React' Drill for 6A-I Signal Callers

๐Ÿ“ Owasso RamsยทSaturday, July 11, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

As the Owasso Rams prepare for another dominant 6A-I season, quarterback development is a top priority. One key drill to help Rams QBs improve their decision-making and accuracy is the 'Read and React' drill. Coaches will set up a series of cones to simulate a 3-step drop and a 5-step drop. QBs will start in the 3-step drop and read the defense, reacting to the coverage and making a quick decision to either throw or pull the ball down. After 3 reps, QBs will move to the 5-step drop and repeat the process. Coaches should emphasize 'eyes on the defender' and 'quick release' throughout the drill. This drill translates to game performance by forcing QBs to read the defense quickly and make accurate throws under pressure.
