Sheldon Irish Linebackers: Master the 'Boxer Shuffle' Drill

๐Ÿ“ Sheldon IrishยทWednesday, July 1, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

To improve agility and reaction time, Sheldon Irish linebackers can incorporate the 'Boxer Shuffle' drill into their summer training. This drill consists of three sets of 10 reps, with a 30-second rest between sets. Start by having the linebacker stand with their feet shoulder-width apart, then quickly shuffle their feet to the left and right, mimicking a boxer's footwork. As they shuffle, they should keep their head up, eyes forward, and hands up in a defensive position. Coaching cues include 'light on your feet' and 'keep your weight evenly distributed.' This drill translates to game performance by improving the linebacker's ability to quickly change direction and maintain balance in traffic, making them a more effective tackler and defender.
