Crusader Catch: A WR Drill for Jesuit's 6A Aspirations
At Jesuit High School, the Crusaders' wide receivers are gearing up for a championship run in 6A. To prepare them for the gridiron, we're introducing the 'Crusader Catch' drill, designed to hone their route-running skills and hand-eye coordination. The drill consists of 3 sets of 5 reps, with a 2-minute rest between sets. Players line up 10 yards from the quarterback, who throws a 5-yard out route. The WR must catch the ball with their fingertips, then immediately turn upfield, running a 10-yard dash to the sideline. Coaching cues include 'catch with your eyes,' 'keep your head on a swivel,' and 'explosive acceleration.' This drill translates to game performance by replicating the quick, precise movements required to beat defenders and secure crucial first downs. By mastering the Crusader Catch, Jesuit's WRs will be well-equipped to take on the best of the 6A competition.
