The West Linn Lions, a 6A powerhouse in Oregon, are capitalizing on the OSAA's pilot district expansion of girls flag football in Texas. This move is expected to create new scholarship pathways for Texas athletes. According to sources, the University of Nebraska, led by coaches Liz and Katie Sowers, is actively recruiting top talent from the Lone Star State for its inaugural 2028 season. Ottawa University, Kansas, a national powerhouse with up to 12 scholarships, is also targeting Texas flag football players. Additionally, Keiser University, Florida, and Midland University, Nebraska, are actively recruiting Texas athletes. Meanwhile, UT Arlington is developing its program but has not yet announced scholarship offerings. West Linn Lions coaches and administrators are advising recruits to focus on these verified scholarship programs and to connect with coaches at the University of Nebraska and Ottawa University, Kansas, for more information.
