Crafting a Highlight Tape That Catches College Coaches' Eyes

๐Ÿ“ Sheldon IrishยทWednesday, July 8, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

As a top 6A prospect, your highlight tape is often the first impression you make on college coaches. To stand out, focus on showcasing your skills in a clear, concise manner. Divide your tape into sections, highlighting your strengths in each area. For example, dedicate 30 seconds to your best runs, 30 seconds to your most impressive passes, and 30 seconds to your defensive plays. Use a mix of game footage and practice clips to demonstrate your versatility. Include a mix of slow-motion and regular-speed footage to add visual interest. Most importantly, keep your tape to 3-4 minutes long โ€“ any longer and you risk losing coaches' attention. By structuring your highlight tape this way, you'll increase your chances of getting noticed by college coaches and landing a scholarship opportunity.
