West Linn Lions WRs: Master the 'Quick Release' Drill

๐Ÿ“ West Linn LionsยทWednesday, July 8, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

This summer, West Linn Lions wide receivers can take their game to the next level with the 'Quick Release' drill. Designed to improve separation from defenders and accuracy on short passes, this drill is a must-have for any 6A program. Set up three cones in a zig-zag pattern, 5 yards apart. Start at the first cone, then quickly cut to the second, releasing a pass to a teammate at the third cone. Complete 3 sets of 10 reps, focusing on explosive acceleration and a quick release. Coaching cues include 'Fast feet, fast hands' and 'Release the ball before the defender reaches you.' This drill translates to game performance by allowing WRs to create separation and make plays on short passes, a crucial aspect of any 6A offense.
