FridayNightPulse: Lake Oswego Lakers DE Drill for Dominance

๐Ÿ“ Lake Oswego LakersยทThursday, July 16, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

Coaches at 6A programs like Lake Oswego Lakers are perfecting their defensive end drills to set their players up for success this season. The 'Rush and Recover' drill targets DEs' speed, agility, and technique. Begin with 3 sets of 10 reps. Have DEs start in a 3-point stance, then explosively rush 10 yards to a designated marker. Immediately transition to a 3-point stance and recover back to the starting position. Repeat. Coaching cues include: 'Fast feet, not fast hands' and 'Keep the back straight, the core tight.' This drill translates to game performance by improving DEs' ability to quickly close gaps and recover to the ball carrier. It also enhances their agility and reaction time, allowing them to stay in front of blockers and make tackles.
