Crusader Running Backs: Master the 'Power Through' Drill
At Jesuit High School, our 6A Crusader running backs are gearing up for a dominant season. To improve their explosiveness and elusiveness, we're focusing on the 'Power Through' drill. This high-intensity exercise targets the glutes, hamstrings, and quads, translating to game-breaking speed and agility. The drill consists of 3 sets of 10 reps: 1) Start in a three-point stance, 2) explode off the line, 3) change direction 90 degrees, and 4) power through a small hurdle or cone. Coaching cues include: 'Explode, don't lift,' 'Keep your eyes up,' and 'Finish through the cone.' This drill builds the strength, speed, and agility needed to break tackles and gain yards after contact. By incorporating the 'Power Through' drill into their summer training, our Crusader running backs will be unstoppable come kickoff.
