Crusader WRs: Master the 'Route Runner' Drill
To prepare Jesuit Crusaders' wide receivers for the upcoming season, we're introducing the 'Route Runner' drill. This high-intensity exercise targets speed, agility, and route recognition. Set up four cones in a zigzag pattern, 5 yards apart. Divide the receivers into pairs, with one player as the runner and the other as the coach. The coach calls out a route (e.g., 'slant' or 'out'), and the runner must quickly react, accelerating through the cones. Complete 3 sets of 10 reps, resting 30 seconds between sets. Coaching cues: 'Quick feet, eyes on the coach!' and 'Accelerate through the turn!' This drill translates to game performance by improving reaction time, agility, and the ability to read defenses. By mastering the 'Route Runner,' Crusaders' WRs will be one step ahead of their opponents.
