DeShawn Davis Commits to SMU
Pittsburgh Central Catholic Vikings offensive lineman DeShawn Davis has committed to play for the Southern Methodist University Mustangs. Davis, a 5A prospect in the Class of 2026, chose SMU due to the team's familiarity with his athletic style, as the Mustangs employ a similar zone-blocking scheme. Additionally, Davis is expected to compete for a starting position immediately, as SMU's depth chart at left tackle is relatively thin. The Mustangs' strong academic program, which boasts a 95% graduation rate, also played a significant role in Davis' decision. Davis had previously been committed to the University of Pittsburgh but decommitted in March to explore other options. The 6-foot-5, 275-pound lineman has been a key contributor on the Vikings' line throughout his high school career, earning multiple All-District honors. Davis' commitment to SMU is a significant addition to the Mustangs' 2027 recruiting class.
