Imhotep Charter Panthers Linebacker Drill: 'Shadow Stance' Agility Ladder

To improve agility and reaction time, Imhotep Charter Panthers linebackers will run the 'Shadow Stance' drill. Set up an agility ladder on the field, with 5-6 feet between each rung. Players start in a defensive stance, with their feet shoulder-width apart and their back knee bent. On the coach's signal, they step into the ladder with their back foot and immediately step out with their front foot, mimicking a defensive back's 'shadow' technique. Perform 3 sets of 10 reps, focusing on quick footwork and explosive acceleration. Coaching cues include 'Shadow, shadow, move!' and 'Fast feet, fast feet!' This drill translates to game performance by improving linebackers' ability to quickly change direction and stay with ball carriers.
