Marcus Johnson Commits to Kansas State Wildcats
Coventry Oakers linebacker Marcus Johnson has committed to the Kansas State Wildcats for the Class of 2027. Johnson, a 6-foot-2, 215-pound defender, chose Kansas State over offers from Rhode Island, Bryant, and Maine. The Oakers' standout linebacker cited the Wildcats' 3-4 defensive scheme as a key factor in his decision, stating it aligns with his strengths as a pass rusher and run defender. Johnson also praised the academic programs at Kansas State, noting its strong engineering and business schools. The Coventry native had previously committed to the University of Rhode Island but reopened his recruitment in April. Johnson is expected to compete for a starting role as a true freshman and bring his athleticism and leadership to the Wildcats' defense. He is the first commit from the Class of 2027 for Kansas State's football program.
