Explosive Power for Bishop Hendricken Hawks Running Backs: The Box Jump Ladder Drill

๐Ÿ“ Bishop Hendricken HawksยทSunday, July 26, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

To improve acceleration and power, Bishop Hendricken Hawks running backs can incorporate the box jump ladder drill into their summer training regimen. This drill consists of 3 sets of 5 reps, with 30 seconds of rest between sets. Start by having the player stand at the bottom of a 12-inch box or bench, then jump up and place both feet on the box. Next, have them step down into a ladder placed on the ground, focusing on quick footwork and acceleration. The player should repeat this process, stepping up onto the box and then down into the ladder. Coach the player to explode upward, driving through their heels and extending their hips. This drill translates to game performance by improving the player's ability to quickly change direction and accelerate through holes.
