Building a Stronger O-Line: The Gaffney Indians' Power Position Drill

๐Ÿ“ Gaffney IndiansยทWednesday, July 8, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

This summer, Gaffney Indians' linemen can take their game to the next level with the Power Position Drill. This drill focuses on developing strength, power, and technique in the O-Line position. To start, divide the linemen into pairs. One player will be in a three-point stance, while the other player will be in a pass-blocking stance. The player in the three-point stance will explode upward, then quickly transition into a pass-blocking stance. The partner will then attempt to rush past the blocker. Repeat for 3 sets of 10 reps. Coaching cues include: 'Drive your feet,' 'Keep your chest up,' and 'Use your legs.' This drill translates to game performance by improving the O-Lineman's ability to quickly change direction and generate power in their blocks. It also enhances their ability to recognize and react to different defensive schemes.
