Agility Ladder Drill for 4A Cornerbacks: Enhancing Quickness at South Pointe Stallions

๐Ÿ“ South Pointe StallionsยทWednesday, July 22, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

Cornerbacks at 4A programs like South Pointe Stallions require exceptional quickness and agility to stay with receivers. To improve these skills, we recommend the following agility ladder drill: "Ladder Cuts". Set up 5-6 cones in a zig-zag pattern, with an agility ladder placed at the end of each cone. Players will start at one end of the ladder and perform a lateral cut through the ladder, then immediately change direction to make a 45-degree cut through the next ladder section. Complete 3 sets of 10 reps, resting for 30 seconds between sets. Coaching cues include keeping the feet low and quick, and using the inside foot to guide the outside foot through the cuts. This drill translates to game performance by improving a cornerback's ability to quickly change direction and stay in phase with receivers.
