Rough Rider DEs: Master the 'Rip and Rip' Drill
As the Roosevelt Rough Riders prepare for the upcoming 11AA season, defensive end players can take their game to the next level with the 'Rip and Rip' drill. This high-intensity exercise targets speed, agility, and power, translating directly to game performance. The drill consists of two sets of 5 reps each, with a 30-second rest in between. Players start in a 3-point stance, then explosively rip their hands and feet off the ground, taking 3-4 steps forward. Immediately, they rip their hands and feet back to the ground, returning to the starting position. Coaches should emphasize proper footwork, keeping the back foot anchored, and driving through the front foot. This drill will help DEs develop the quickness and explosiveness needed to disrupt opponents' offenses.
