Sprints and Shuttle Drills for Speed and Agility

๐Ÿ“ Tea Area TitansยทWednesday, July 8, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

Tea Area Titans' 11A program is looking to improve their speed and agility this pre-season. One effective drill for S players is the 5-10-5 shuttle drill. This drill targets quick changes of direction and acceleration. To set up, players start at the 5-yard line, sprint to the 10-yard line, then shuttle back to the 5-yard line. They repeat for 3 sets of 10 reps. Coaching cues include keeping the head up, driving through the legs, and exploding out of the shuttle. This drill translates to game performance by improving reaction time and ability to quickly change direction on the field. It's essential for S players to be able to quickly read the quarterback and react to the ball in the air. By incorporating this drill into their practice routine, the Titans can improve their S play and become a more formidable opponent.
