Rough Riders' Female Flag Football Talent Poised to Benefit from SDHSAA Expansion

๐Ÿ“ Roosevelt Rough RidersยทThursday, July 9, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

The Roosevelt Rough Riders' strong reputation in South Dakota high school football is about to attract more attention from college programs. As the SDHSAA expands its flag football pilot district, more Texas athletes will have access to verified scholarship pathways. For Rough Riders' female flag football players, this means exploring opportunities at the University of Nebraska, which will offer NCAA Division I scholarships in 2028 under the guidance of coaches Liz and Katie Sowers. Ottawa University, Kansas, and Keiser University, Florida, are also active recruiters, offering up to 12 NAIA scholarships. Midland University, Nebraska, is another option. Female flag football players at Roosevelt can take concrete steps by researching these programs, attending summer camps, and reaching out to coaches to discuss potential scholarship opportunities.
