FridayNightPulse Training Tip: Harrisburg Tigers RB Drill
This week's training tip is designed for running backs at 11AA programs like the Harrisburg Tigers. The 'Lateral Shuffle Drill' targets speed, agility, and vision. Set up four cones in a square formation, with one cone at the center. Divide the players into pairs, with one player at the center cone and the other at a corner cone. The player at the center cone must laterally shuffle to the corner cone, then immediately change direction and repeat. Perform 3 sets of 10 reps, resting 30 seconds between sets. Coaching cues: 'Keep your feet wide, eyes up, and hands out.' This drill translates to game performance by improving a RB's ability to quickly change direction and accelerate out of cuts. It also enhances their vision by forcing them to stay aware of their surroundings while moving at high speeds.
