Tea Area Titans CBs: Master the 'Shadow' Drill for Game-Changing Coverage

๐Ÿ“ Tea Area TitansยทSunday, July 19, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

As the Tea Area Titans prepare for the upcoming season, cornerbacks coach, John Smith, emphasizes the importance of developing quick reactions and sharp instincts. The 'Shadow' drill is a critical component of their pre-season training program. To run the drill, set up a series of cones to create a 5-yard by 5-yard grid. Divide the players into pairs, with one player as the receiver and the other as the defender. The receiver will start at the edge of the grid, while the defender will begin in the center. On the coach's signal, the receiver will sprint to the center of the grid, forcing the defender to react and 'shadow' their movement. Complete 3 sets of 10 reps, focusing on the defender's ability to stay in phase with the receiver. This drill translates to game performance by improving the CB's ability to read and react to the opponent's receiver, making it an essential component of the Titans' pre-season training.
