Oakland Patriots' Multisport Star Eyes Flag Football Scholarships
Multisport standout Olivia Johnson, a rising senior at Oakland High School in Murfreesboro, has set her sights on flag football as a potential college opportunity. With the University of Nebraska's inaugural 2028 season on the horizon, Johnson is eager to capitalize on the growing interest in the sport. Nebraska, led by coaches Liz and Katie Sowers, has announced plans to offer scholarships in the Power 4 sport. Johnson has been in contact with the Nebraska coaching staff and is considering a visit to the Lincoln campus this summer. Additionally, she has received interest from Ottawa University, Kansas, which offers up to 12 NAIA scholarships, and Keiser University, Florida, an active recruiter in the NAIA Sun Conference. Midland University, Nebraska, another active recruiter, has also reached out to Johnson. As UT Arlington's NCAA D1 program develops, it is expected to offer scholarships in the future. Johnson's athleticism and versatility make her an attractive prospect for these programs. To increase her chances of securing a scholarship, Johnson is focusing on developing her skills through summer camps and highlight tapes. She encourages other multisport athletes to explore flag football as a potential college pathway.
