Katy Tigers Girls Flag Football Sees New Scholarship Opportunities
The University Interscholastic League's (UIL) decision to expand its flag football pilot district has created new pathways for talented high school athletes to access college scholarships. Katy Tigers, a 6A powerhouse, is well-positioned to capitalize on this development. With the NCAA's Emerging Sports for Women program adding women's flag football in January 2026, colleges are investing in the sport. The University of Nebraska, the only Power 4 school with a fully funded D1 varsity program, offers a clear route for top athletes. NAIA programs like Ottawa University (KS), Keiser University (FL) and Midland University (NE) also offer active scholarships. UT Arlington, a Texas D1 program in development, provides another option for athletes looking to stay in-state. To access these opportunities, Katy Tigers must perform well in UIL competition and attract the attention of college coaches.
