Tight End Training: The Katy Tigers' 3-Point Stance Drill
As the 6A season approaches, tight end coaches at Katy High School are putting their players through a rigorous training regimen to improve their blocking and receiving skills. One key drill is the 3-Point Stance Drill, designed to enhance a TE's ability to quickly transition from a blocking stance to a receiving stance. The drill involves 3 sets of 10 reps, with a 30-second rest between sets. Coaches cue players to maintain a tight core, keep their knees bent, and drive their feet into the ground. This drill translates to game performance by allowing TEs to quickly adjust to changing play calls and block or release their defender. By incorporating this drill into their summer training, Katy's TEs will be better equipped to handle the physical demands of the 6A season.
