As the UIL expands its flag football pilot district to include more Texas high schools, the Aledo Bearcats are poised to benefit from the growing number of verified scholarship programs available to girls flag football players. The University of Nebraska, led by coaches Liz and Katie Sowers, is set to launch its inaugural NCAA Division 1 flag football season in 2028. Ottawa University, Kansas, is a national powerhouse offering up to 12 NAIA scholarships. Keiser University, Florida, and Midland University, Nebraska, are also active recruiters. UT Arlington, a developing NCAA Division 1 program, is expected to join the fray in the near future. Aledo Bearcats athletes can now focus on developing their skills and taking concrete steps to secure scholarships at these institutions.
