North Shore Mustangs' OL Coach Shares Key Drill for Summer Training
One of the most critical positions on the field is the offensive line, and for 6A programs like North Shore Mustangs, dominating in the trenches is a must. To improve their OL's strength and technique, coach Thompson recommends the 'Plyometric Push-Pull' drill. Set up a resistance band or a partner with a hand weight, and have the OL player perform 3 sets of 10 reps, alternating between a plyometric push (explosive push) and a pull (controlled pull). Coaching cues include 'explosive extension' and 'controlled contraction.' This drill translates to game performance by improving the OL's ability to generate power and speed off the snap. By incorporating this drill into their summer training, the Mustangs' OL can develop the strength and agility needed to take down top-ranked defenses.
