FridayNightPulse Training Tip: Gunter Tigers DE Drill

๐Ÿ“ Gunter TigersยทTuesday, July 21, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

For 3A programs like the Gunter Tigers, developing dominant defensive ends is crucial. To improve their speed, agility, and strength, we recommend the 'Speed Shuttle Blast' drill. This drill consists of 3 sets of 5 reps, with 30 seconds of rest between sets. The drill begins with the DE starting in a 3-point stance, then explosively accelerating 10 yards downfield. Upon reaching the 10-yard mark, they quickly change direction and sprint back to the starting point, before explosively bursting forward again. Coaching cues include: 'Fast feet, fast hands,' and 'Explosive acceleration.' This drill translates to game performance by improving the DE's ability to quickly close gaps and chase down ball carriers. By incorporating the Speed Shuttle Blast drill into their training regimen, Gunter Tigers DEs will be better equipped to dominate on the field this season.
