Jalen Thompson Commits to UTSA
Katy Tigers linebacker Jalen Thompson has committed to play for UTSA, the school announced Friday. The Class of 2025 standout chose the Roadrunners over other Division I offers. Thompson, a 6-foot-2, 220-pound linebacker, fits UTSA's 3-4 defensive scheme, which emphasizes speed and athleticism at the linebacker position. The Katy Tigers' depth chart at linebacker will be impacted by Thompson's departure, but his decision to commit to UTSA is seen as a positive development for the program. Thompson was previously committed to Texas State but decommitted in April. UTSA's academic program, which offers a range of degree options in business, engineering, and healthcare, was also a factor in Thompson's decision. The Roadrunners' coaching staff has been recruiting Thompson for over a year, and he is expected to make an immediate impact on the team.
