Speed and Agility for 6A CBs: The 'Shuttle Shuffle' Drill

๐Ÿ“ North Shore MustangsยทFriday, July 24, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

For cornerbacks at top 6A programs like North Shore Mustangs, speed and agility are crucial for success on the field. To improve these skills, we recommend the 'Shuttle Shuffle' drill. This drill involves setting up two cones 5 yards apart, with a third cone 10 yards away from the second cone. Players start at the first cone, shuffling to the second cone, then immediately shuffling back to the first cone. They then sprint to the third cone and back to the starting point. Perform 3 sets of 10 reps, resting for 30 seconds between sets. As players run, coaches should emphasize quick feet, explosive acceleration, and sharp cuts. This drill translates to game performance by improving a CB's ability to quickly change direction and cover wide receivers off the line of scrimmage.
