Elevate Your Tight End Game: The Allen Eagles' 6A Drill for Dominant Receivers
๐ Allen EaglesยทSunday, July 26, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider
At the Allen Eagles' 6A program, Tight End coach, Ryan Thompson, has developed a drill to improve his players' route running and separation from defenders. The 'Swing and Seal' drill involves 3 sets of 5 reps with 30 seconds rest between sets. Players start in a 3-point stance, then quickly swing their feet to a 45-degree angle, while keeping their hands and arms extended. As they seal their defender, they must maintain a tight, compact body position and accelerate through the route. Coaching cues include 'Swing, Seal, Accelerate' and 'Compact, Fast, Finish.' This drill translates to game performance by improving Tight Ends' ability to create separation and get open quickly, making them a more valuable asset to their team's offense.
