Route Running Precision for Cavemen WRs

๐Ÿ“ American Fork CavemenยทTuesday, July 14, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

At American Fork High School, WRs are honing their route running skills with the 'Quick Flip' drill. Set up 5 cones in a zig-zag pattern, 5 yards apart. Players start at the first cone, then quickly flip their hips and sprint to the next cone, mimicking a 5-yard out route. After reaching the third cone, they pivot and sprint to the fourth cone, simulating a 10-yard in route. On the fifth cone, they abruptly change direction, sprinting back to the start. Perform 3 sets of 10 reps, resting 30 seconds between sets. Coaches should emphasize quick footwork, precise body control, and a smooth transition between routes. This drill translates to game performance by improving WRs' ability to quickly adjust to defenders and create separation on the field.
