Pilot District Expansion Creates New Scholarship Pathways for Texas Girls Flag Football Athletes
As the UHSAA flag football pilot district expansion gains momentum, Texas girls flag football athletes are poised to capitalize on emerging scholarship opportunities. The University of Nebraska, set to launch its inaugural 2028 season, has announced a Power 4 women's football program led by coaches Liz and Katie Sowers. Nebraska offers a clear pathway for top Texas talent. Additionally, Ottawa University, Kansas, a national powerhouse with up to 12 scholarships, and Keiser University, Florida, an active recruiter, are actively seeking top flag football prospects. Midland University, Nebraska, is also an active recruiter. UT Arlington, a developing NCAA D1 program, is not yet offering scholarships. Texas girls flag football athletes can take concrete steps to increase their visibility and eligibility for these opportunities by attending summer camps, showcasing their skills on highlight tapes and networking with coaches.
