Charging Up the Tight End Position: A Corner Canyon Chargers Summer Drill

๐Ÿ“ Corner Canyon ChargersยทMonday, July 27, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

At Corner Canyon Chargers, our tight end players are putting in the work this summer to improve their blocking and receiving skills. One key drill we're focusing on is the 'Box Out, Box In' technique. This drill involves setting up a 5-yard box with cones, with the TE player starting in the center. On the coach's signal, the player must quickly 'box out' to the left or right, using their feet and hands to seal the edge. Then, they must quickly 'box in' to the center, using their hands to secure the block. We're aiming for 3 sets of 10 reps, with a 30-second rest between sets. This drill translates to game performance by teaching our TEs to quickly identify and seal their blocks, creating holes for our running backs and giving our QBs time to throw.
